Wonderful Word Wednesday: Formication

It's Wonderful Word Wednesday again! Do you as a writer ever struggle finding that perfect word to describe something or you want to shake your writing up with some new words? Each Wednesday I post hand-picked descriptive words for writers and other vocabulary nerds out there. ;) Here's a fun one. I had no idea this actually had a name. XD

formication
noun
1.) a tactile hallucination involving the belief that something is crawling on the body or under the skin.

Example Sentence: Dina couldn't help the feeling of formication as she walked through the dark, dirty, dank tunnels.

Dina hates rates or any kind of pest for that matter.

Have you seen or used this word before? What do you think of it?

Tea Tuesday: Divergent

I'm not really a coffee person. I prefer tea, and I know a lot of fellow writers love tea, too. But have you ever wanted to break out of the Early Grey or English Breakfast norm and try something new? Well, let me help you find some cool new teas! If you need a little hot and flavorful boost to help you reach your writing goal or you're just a lover of tea or you'd like to try some tea but aren't fond of the stereotypical types, these Tea Tuesday posts are for you.

This weeks tea is ...

*drum roll*

Divergent

How I found it:  I'm back with another fandom set from Adagio Teas. This is the same site I bought the Avengers set,Sherlock set, Tolkien set, Avatar: the Last Airbender set,  Doctor Who set, Attack on Titan set, and RWBY set from! The set for the next few weeks is the Divergent set! I thought it appropriate what with Insurgent coming out on March 20th. I'm really excited about that. ^ ^

Though I didn't enjoy the book very much, I'm hoping the movie will be better. It seems like it's going to be, though I'm still not sure about Johanna. SCAR! *clears throat* Moving on ... This set includes the five factions plus that one special one: Abnegation, Dauntless, Erudite, Amity, Candor, and Divergent. They all smell delicious, let's see how they taste!

The Tea: This tea fits Tris as a Divergent very well, since it has elements of Dauntless, Erudite, and Abnegation, especially Dauntless. Divergent toasty, warm, and comforting from the spiced mate which reminds me of Abnegation. It's bold and brave with the chocolate chai, chocolate chips, cocoa nibs, and cinnamon. And it's intelligent and sophisticated with Tiger Eye.

It's very much like the main character Tris whom I will be seeing in the theaters this Thursday for Insurgent. Yays. ^ ^ I'll be posting a review of the film on Geeks Under Grace, a Christian geek site I write and edit for. Shameless plug aside, this is a delicious tea and I could see Tris drinking it. Because this is a mate it leaves a powder at the bottom so probably abstain from that last sip.

Serving Recommendations: I steeped this tea for four minutes and added cream and sugar. Some extra cinnamon would have been a good idea too. ^ ^

How much is it and where can you get it? You can find this tea at the Adagio website. I bought this tea in a sample set which was about $22 including shipping and you get a goodly amount of tea since you only need about a teaspoon per cup. Some of these teas you can buy individually for about $10 a pouch.

So how good is it? This isn't an extreme favorite, but this is a fitting and unique and delicious tea. Four stars!

Have you tried this tea? What did you think of it? Have you seen or read DivergentWho's your favorite character?

Bonus! If you are a first-time Adagio customer I can send you a $5 giftcard! Ask in the comments for details! (This is no joke and no catch I seriously can. It's part of the amazingness of Adagio Teas)

Soundtrack Sunday: See What I've Become (Insurgent Trailer)

It's Soundtrack Sunday again! The day where I post awesome music to write to or just listen to for pleasure if you're a fellow soundtrack junkie. I've been watching a lot of the Insurgent trailers and promos coming out and I noticed this really awesome track for the main trailer.

I love the low octave piano at the beginning and end. It gives it a haunting feel and rounds out the piece. Then the track pics up with piano and then strings and drums. It calms at one point with a lighter tune that gives a glimmer of hope to a somewhat dark piece. Then it goes back down to the dark feel with added choir and horns. This piece is really epic and a bit villainous. It could be good for a bad guy scene or a battle. It's a spectacular track. You can listen to more epic music in my Soundtrack Sundays YouTube playlist.

Have you heard this piece before? What do you think of it? Have you seen Insurgent?

Beautiful People: Mor

It's time for this month's Beautiful People! Yay! This is a link-up hosted by Paperfury and Further Up and Further In where you answer questions about your characters. I participated in Beautiful People #1#2#3 and the villain special last year, Beautiful People Author Edition, and Beautiful People Valentine Edition. This link-up has been so incredibly helpful for me. ^ ^

Since Mor's being stubborn and I still haven't gotten into every last cranny of her soul, she's going to be the subject of attention this month. I have a book that needs to be ready by August and she's the main character so I need to know every last detail! If you'd like to participate in this link-up yourself, check out either Paperfury or Further Up and Further In to see how. Here we go!

1. What is her secret desire?
Mor's most inner desire is to help people and be loved by people.

2. What is the best and brightest moment she experiences during the story?
This is hard ... I put her through a lot of bad stuff ... I can't tell one because it's a spoiler ... I guess one is seeing the northern lights on the snow and reflecting off the crystalline pillars in the land of Isriki. It's a really cool scene.

3. What are the emotional places she is afraid to go to?
Mor is afraid to show any weakness, because she feels like as a leader she needs to be a strong example and that means no blubbering. She has trouble showing sadness and because of that she has trouble grieving which has left some deep dents in her heart and deep ruts in her relationships.

4. Is there a place/city/room where she will never go? Why?
Her father's grave. She hates going there knowing its an empty tomb and she just can't stand accepting the reality that he's gone even after his death ten years ago.

5. If she were permanently leaving town, what would they easily throw out? What would she refuse to part with? (Why?)
Funny because Mor actually does permanently leave town. She would easily throw out her frilly dresses. Mor is a definite tomboy. She would refuse to part with her throwing axes. They're a family heirloom and she wouldn't dare leave them behind.

6. What does she want (consciously and tangibly)?
She wants to be a legendary Red Hood, a werewolf huntress, like her ancestors.

7. On the other hand: what does she need (on the emotional, subconscious level)?
Mor really wants support and approval of her mother, but they have become estranged since her father passed away. She wants to be recognized and approved of by others also hence why she wants to become a legend.

8. If she could change one thing about herself, what would it be?
Deep down, Mor sometimes wishes she was a softer person. She has a scab around her heart and it makes her come across as unfeeling and course.

9. What is the most humiliating event of her life?
When she was caught crying in school after her father's death and a bully called her a "weak, blubbering baby."

10. What things does she turn to when they need a bit of hope?
Mor prays and she also seeks comfort from her friends especially Claes.

Some of these questions were really tough, I have to really sit down and think about them which is a good thing for me. I needed it for stubborn Mor. If you're like to learn a little more ( ;) ) about her, check out her character interview and the Beautiful Book posts (#1, #2, #3) about her book! Thanks for another awesome link-up, Cait!

What do you think of Mor? Have you done Beautiful People this month? Post your links in the comments!

The Art of Characters: Best Friends

It's that time again for another link-up! Thank you to everyone who participated last month's link up on love interests!

This month will be on the main character's best friend. Most characters have at least one close friend and if not at the beginning the best friend will probably come later on. So what does your main character's best friend look like? How does his or her appearance relate to his or her personality? Let's see!

What is it?

This link-up focuses on your characters from the outside and how your character's description can tell a lot about your character. I'm hoping this will not only help pure writers, but also writers/artists to draw their characters more. I'm going to do a new link-up on the second Friday of the month. I hope you enjoy it and you learn some more about your characters!

How to Do It:

Step 1.) Find three pieces of art that describe your character. This can be your own drawings or cosplays or sculptures, someone else's art (with their permission and/or crediting of course), celebrity pictures, or a combination of the three.

Step 2.) Answer the questions below about your character's description and link back to this blog so if anyone else wants to participate they know where to go.

Step 3.) Put it all in a blog post or deviantART journal.

Step 4.) When you post it, link up here and you're done!

The Questions:

1.) What does your character's eye, skin, and hair color tell about him/her?

2.) What does your character's hairstyle tell about him/her?

3.) What does your character's default outfit tell about him/her?

4.) Does he/she have an object(s) he/she carries around a lot?

5.) Does he/she have any particular scars or birthmarks?

6.) Does he/she have any piercings or tattoos?

7.) How does he/she carry themselves? Shoulders back? Eye contact? Eyes down? Slumped shoulders?

8.) What is his/her default expression? Smiling? Frowning? Solemn?

9.) Does he/she wear make-up or face paint?

10.) Does his/her physical appearance change at any time? For example: If they have a power do their eyes glow or hair turn blue?

Bonus: After meeting the main character did the best friend change his/her appearance?
