Soundtrack Sunday: Sora (Vision of Escaflowne)

It's Soundtrack Sunday again! The day where I post awesome music to write to or just listen to for pleasure if you're a fellow soundtrack junkie. This week I was going through some of my YouTube playlists in search of music to rediscover and I found this gem. This piece is from a 90s anime called Vision of Escaflowne that was pretty good actually with very good music.

The song is very peaceful with gentle vocals and wind instruments. Near the middle the song picks up into a fantasy-like tune with unusual instruments such as the harpsichord and Jamaican steel drums, then settles back down into peaceful. It's a soothing peace good for a fantasy scene. The lyrics are in Ancient Romanian and give the song a very foreign feel. Overall it is a lovely piece, give it a listen.  You can listen to more epic music in my Soundtrack Sundays YouTube playlist.

In the darkness
The dragon
wakes.
The dragon awakens.
To a heart
that is numbed with cold
the dragon takes.

With you at
my side the
dragon sleeps.
On dragon
wing your
wishes will
leap.

lalala... your wishes can
bring forth a destructive future.
lalala... or you can
bring salvation.

In the darkness
The dragon
wakes.
The dragon awakens.
To a heart
that is numbed with cold
the dragon takes.

Have you heard this piece before? What do you think of it? Have you seen Vision of Escaflowne?
