Beautiful People #27: Cohen (Silhouette)

It's time for this month's Beautiful People! Yay! This is a link-up hosted by Paperfury and Further Up and Further Inwhere you answer questions about your characters. I participated in Beautiful People for the last three years every month. Pretty crazy. XD This link-up has been just so helpful with character development.

Cohen is a new character I'm developing for my NaNo novel Silhouette. This BP fits perfect for him. His story is adult science-fiction (Writing an adult fiction. Scary. XD) and he comes from a 1900s tech trio of planets connected by space elevators and he's currently in a mining colony as is his sentence. The planet is unsuitable for humans so him and his other inmates have had their souls transferred into special ceramic bodies to survive the conditions. If you'd like to participate in this link-up yourself, check out either Paperfury or Further Up and Further In to see how. Here we go!

This is Cohen in nicer clothes which happens later in the book haha.

What are they addicted to/can’t live without?
Cohen can't live without the letters from his mother and sister. They're what keep him going every day. He has only one little cubby in his prison pod and he keeps them all in there.

Name 3 positive and 3 negative qualities about your character.
Compassionate, intelligent, and diligent.

Easily susceptible to peer pressure, has a hard time saying no, and greed.

Are they holding onto something they should get rid of?
His feeling that he can't be happy unless he has money and is successful.

If 10 is completely organized and 1 is completely messy, where do they fall on the scale?
8. He's as organized as he can be. Outside of prison he's more organized.

What most frustrates them about the world they live in?
That he was born at the bottom at the barrel and it's so hard for him to climb to success. He tried to get rich faster and got himself in prison in a ceramic body.

How would they dress for a night out? How would they dress for a night in?
A night out would be in a suit and tie and perhaps a hat. A night in would just be pants and a comfortable long sleeve shirt.

How many shoes do they own, and what kind?
He owns one pair at this time that he can use and they're boots suitable for mining.

Do they have any pets? What pet do they WISH they had?
At home he had a dog named Scotch but he's died since Cohen has been in prison. He'd like another dog when he gets out.

Is there something or someone that they resent? Why and what happened?
He resents deeply the man who got him sent to prison for eight years. He betrayed Cohen.

What’s usually in their fridge or pantry?
Since he's in prison in a body that doesn't eat food he doesn't have anything, but at home they normally don't have much in their pantry besides beans, flour, and a few other basics unless he brings home something special like candied fruit or oranges.

And that's it! Thanks for reading!

These are more miner-ish clothes. I will have some of my drawings of him soon.

What do you think of Cohen? Did you participate in the Beautiful People? Are you planning to? If so let me see your posts in the comments!
