Beautiful People - Appearance Edition: Rouyn (Starbloods)

It's time for this month's Beautiful People! Yay! This is a link-up hosted by Paperfury and Further Up and Further In where you answer questions about your characters. I participated in Beautiful People #1#2#3 and the villain special last year. And I've done Beautiful People Author EditionBeautiful People Valentine EditionBeautiful People #7Beautiful People Sibling EditionBeautiful People #9Beautiful People: Parental EditionBeautiful People #11Beautiful People: Friendship EditionBeautiful People #13: CalebBeautiful People #14: Writerly Resolutions and GoalsBeautiful People: Valentine's EditionBeautiful People #16Beautiful People #17Beautiful People Childhood Edition, and Beautiful People #19This link-up has been just so helpful with character development.

Since I'm officially going to do Starbloods for NaNoWriMo, I want to focus my BPs and interviews on characters from my long-neglected high fantasy series. Today I'm doing BP with Rouyn who is one of my three main characters from the story. He is a Starblood, so he has special abilities such as starlight manipulation, invisibility, and even foresight. He is the oldest character I have, but he's been through so many changes. It's fun bringing him up again after years of not working on his book. He's had a character interview and a Beautiful People a while back, but it's been well ... a while. If you'd like to participate in this link-up yourself, check out either Paperfury or Further Up and Further In to see how. Here we go!

Give a brief overview of their looks. (Include a photo if you want!)
I provided a picture above and a drawing I did of him below. He is tall with pale skin and dark blue eyes. His hair is black and comes to his neck. He usually wears boots with a tunic, pants, and belt. He often carries a dagger. His race called Starbloods have either black or platinum blonde hair and dark blue or gray eyes with very pale skin.

Share a snippet that involves description of their appearance.
I haven't started rewriting his book yet, so I don't have one. ^ ^'

What is the first thing people might notice about them?
He has very deep blue eyes. On some nights the sky can be a deep navy blue. Those are the color of his eyes. His iris and pupil can almost be indistinguishable.

What are their unique features? (Ex: freckles, big ears, birthmark, scars, etc.)
Just recently he acquired a starsmark, which surfaces on a starblood's skin when they manifest their abilities. The mark is extremely painful when it comes in and appears on different places on a star's body. Rouyn's is on his torso below his ribcage. He also has a very miscellaneous little scars from scrapes he's gotten in growing up like falling off his pegasus or cutting his foot on sharp lake bed rocks.

How tall are they? What is their build (Ex: stocky, slender, petite, etc.)
He's 6' 1", and he's skinny fit. Being a young prince he has to keep himself in shape.

What is their posture like? How do they usually carry themselves?
Rouyn tries to carry himself with confidence, but he struggles with growing up knowing he's a prince and never living among his people. He feels like he's a sham for the job and sometimes that shows.

Your character has been seen on a “lazy day” (free from usual routine/expectations): what are they wearing and how do they look?
Oh gosh. He'd have horrible bedhead. He wouldn't tuck his tunic in his pants or pant legs into his boots. He wouldn't totally lace up his tunic either, and he wouldn't wear a surcoat to be proper.

Do they wear glasses, accessories, or jewelry on a regular basis? Do they have any article of clothing or accessory that could be considered their trademark?
He always wears his insignia ring his parents gave him. He feels like it's his connection to them, even though they live far away. The ring is pegasus wings wrapped around his finger with the Calsidorian crest which is stars and pegasus and the stars are diamonds.

Have they ever been bullied or shamed because of their looks? Explain!
Since he's royalty and the sylph colony he grew up in all knew it, he wasn't bullied because it would be highly disrespectful, but he did get excluded out of activities at times because sylphs have wings and he doesn't.

Are they happy with how they look? If they could change anything about their appearance, what would it be?
He's fairly happy with it. He also lives among a lot of sylphs who have tan skin and brown hair and brown eyes, so he sometimes feels like he sticks out like a sore thumb. Living in a Mediterranean environment, the hot sun is tough on his sensitive skin and he burns easily. He's suffered a lot of severe sunburn over the years. He'd want less sensitive skin if he could have it.

That's a bit about Rouyn! It's so great to talk about him again. ^ ^

What do you think of Rouyn? Did you participate in the Beautiful People? Are you planning to? If so let me see your posts in the comments!
