It's time for this month's Beautiful People! Yay! This is a link-up hosted by Paperfury and Further Up and Further In where you answer questions about your characters. I participated in Beautiful People for the last three years every month. Pretty crazy. XD This link-up has been just so helpful with character development.
Harlowe hasn't come out to play for an interview or anything since literally last year, and I know you guys really liked him, so he's going to be the subject of this month's interview! Harlowe has down a lot of traveling in his lifetime, but if he was to pick one place it would have to be the black sand beaches of Obryzemia.
2.) What’s one mistake they made that they learned from?
He made the mistake of trusting the woman who is now his mistress, but he learned the caution of trusting strangers too late.
3.) What was their favorite subject in school? Or favorite thing to learn about?
Harlowe was forced to attend a magic academy and pressured to excel at every subject, so school was not one of his favorite memories. However, out of those classes his favorite was alchemy.
4.) What’s their favorite flower/growing thing?
White willow. He likes the sound the wind makes as it blows through its vine-like branches and he uses the bark a lot in his potions.
5.) Have they ever made someone cry? What happened?
Harlowe's made a lot of people cry, mostly as he's forced them to beg for their lives or he's killed one of their family or friends.
6.) Would you consider them a reliable or unreliable narrator?
Reliable. I don't really write unreliable narrator characters.
7.) What do they dream about at night?
Harlowe is haunted by a lot of nightmares of his past. His mistress has forced him to do many things and has abused him profusely, but on the nights when sweet dreams grace him he dreams of his parents and the life he lost.
8.) They’ve gone out for a “special meal.” What would they eat?
If he could truly have any meal he wanted he would have buffalo tenderloin with juniper berries like his mother used to make.
9.) What’s at least one thing they want to do before they die?
Kill his mistress and taste freedom again.
10.) Do they have any distinguishing or unique talents?
Does he? He's full of unique talents. Harlowe's most unique talent is that he can transform into any form he wants as long as he's consumed a potion made of the subject's blood. He has over fifty different forms that he can take any time he wishes.
